Fall Winter 2021 Runway Themes
This season we are bringing fun back into fashion! As we seem to be closer to having a normal life, designers presented playful post-lockdown wardrobe staples.
Here are some of the themes we liked from the runways:
An antidote to the casual attire we have seen the last season, occasion wear is slowly starting to be sought after. With the vaccine being administered, there is hope we will soon be able to go out again, reflected in the heavy use of metallics and vibrant colors which bring about an optimistic attitude to dressing. This trend has some influences from the 80s with voluminous sleeves and sequins in cocktail dresses.
Influenced by Pop culture, specially from the most recent Emily in Paris series as well as the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot. This trend has gained popularity in previous seasons as we have seen many designers continue to carry out sweater vests, argyle, and pleated skirts. For Fall Winter 2021 designers included blazers, mini skirts co-ords, berets and mini bags in their collections. Prints were varied from varsity-inspired, to plaids and houndstooth. This is a great trend to offer to young consumers.
After being confined for long, we are looking forward to spending time outdoors. Comfort has been at the core of last season’s collections, this time around there is an emphasis on winter sports instead. In order to be protected from the weather, fuzzy fabrications, puffer jackets and blanket scarves are meant to keep us cozy and chic for that après ski look.
