2021 Trending Aesthetics
As the year comes to an end, let’s look back at some trending aesthetics…
The noughties fever is making its way into the zeitgeist again! It was first ignited by Gen Z on TikTok. Soon after, we saw the aesthetic pop up on the runways too, as we have seen in some of Blumarine’s collections. For this aesthetic think corsets, low-rise jeans, ruffled hems & micro-minis.

This aesthetic is fueled by “post-pandemic” optimism, following a year in lockdown customers were yearning for a vacation. The apparel includes styles from the noughties like halter tops, crochet, hawaiian shirts complemented with playful accessories such as bucket hats & puka shell jewelry. It features bright colors as well as Hawaiian-inspired floral prints (such as frangipanis and hibiscuses) & surfer culture.
The Wild West has infiltrated the fashion industry! Materials are at the core of this aesthetic including denim, suede, & (faux) leather. The style includes western shirting, cozy fabrics & fringe along with cowboy boots & hats. For the bold customers cow prints and rodeo graphics can be included in the assortment—consider including animal prints in swimwear as well.
The pandemic accelerated our need for the outdoors. A cabin rental is the perfect escape to unplug & enjoy nature! This aesthetic is warm, cozy, and practical. Comfort is key, resulting in including elastic waist & oversized silhouettes. Apparel includes cozy sweaters, flannel, corduroy, denim overalls paired with cozy socks and boots fit for outdoor activities.
These are only a couple of trends that gained traction in 2021…Stay tuned for more!🔍
